Am I crazy? or is this deal way to good to be true?

So, I seem to have stumbled upon something in the “too good to be true” category… or maybe I’m nuts…you be the judge I suppose.

I was shopping/browsing on Fabric.com…as I usually do during breakfast and coffee time at work, and I came across this priced at $8.98

now as far as I can tell, it’s legitimately a FQ Bundle of 24 FQ’s of Tea Garden by Dena Designs posted HERE….. does that not seem weird to anyone else?  6 yards of fabric? Of course I ordered one… now I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping that they don’t email me and say “gosh you’re dumb, that was a typo”.   Fingers crossed i guess.

I should have ordered more…. I think I might need fabric collector rehab.

Anyway, I really just wanted to let others know in case they would like to get in on that too…

Summer tote overload…

I’m trying to find a good pattern for a tote (I know they are super easy, and i could do it myself), but i have this fabric…I’ll be adding Kona Red solid as well. The bird print is red and white tween birds by Studio E that I purchased at Sewfreshfabrics .

Tote bag colors

I’m making a tote for a friend, but i really wanted to have one that has been tried and approved… my problem isn’t that i can’t find one… it’s that there are so very many to choose from ! it’s amazing!

Here are my top choices…

1.  Cicada Daydream : Fat Quarter Tote

2. Sew Prim Khris: Tote bag

3.  Jcaroline creative Tote

I think number 3 is winning….but i change my mind more than i change my socks.

If anyone else has suggestions please send em’ on over.  If i find one i like, i may have to whip one up for myself using this fabric:

Joel Dewberry

It’s Joel Dewberry Herringbone in Berry and meadow in green.

I’m hoping to have some time for sewing before the weekend… not only is it Easter weekend (and we’re visiting family) but it’s also my 32nd birthday!  yikes!

There is obviously no time for sewing on this trip…but I’ve prepared some needlework for the road… I’ll show you when i get back.

later gators…

April showers… where are my May flowers?

I’ve decided to take another go at blogging, although I’ll be doing it at my own pace. I’ve been doing lots of sewing, i seem to have an unnatural obsession with strip quilts :) i just can’t get enough.  Also i may or may not have gone just a little bit fabric buying crazy with my tax return ! oops !

wanna see what i got??

Kona

I decided to join the Bottled Rainbows Quilt-a-long. Here are my blues along with some extra solid yardage for an upcoming project with some Moda fabric.

Solids for some bottled rainbows :)

i Can’t wait to start picking though my scraps :) If anyone else is doing this quilt along let me know, maybe we can swap scraps :)   It’s the first time I’ve ever done a quilt along.

castle peeps in green

Castle peeps in Red

Yay Castle peeps! I was so very excited to get these!  My son has requested a quilt in the green colours…he always asks for something when i buy fabric that is for “boys” as he would say. Most of my stash is very flowery and girly for some reason.

Well, I’m pretty excited to get back to blogging about sewing and stuff, I’m sure my random rants about the delights of fabrics and patterns along with the annoyances of marriage and children will live up to it’s therapeutic expectations.

bye for now,

Button up Runway show

Here are a bunch of pics from the Button up Runway show that i went to last weekend. Most of the pictures are of my friend Brittanie’s stuff, but i did manage to catch a few other good shots of some other designers as well.

The show was super fun, lots of local designers and fun clothes!  I can’t wait for more shows.   Brit and I have decided to get a table at the Craft fair being held on May 8th, here in Halifax, N.S.   So if you’re around the area come check it out.  It’s in support of “Feed Nova Scotia”.  You can check out the facebook group for the sponsor ( Coco Beans crafts for Kids)  HERE

anyway… here are the pictures of the Show… hope you like them I apologize in advance for the whole bunch of pictures.

There’s more….

Keykalou bags in progress

Before i start rambling about the really awesome “lots of pockets” pattern by Keykalou, I’d like to take a minute to ask if anyone else is super stressed about what to make/buy people for Christmas?  I personally am making just about everything (i doubt my brother would want a handbag or pillow covers so i’ll buy him something nice).  It seems like the big day is creeping up on me here, and I’m feeling a little stressed. That being said… this Keykalou “lots of pockets” bag pattern is keeping me going. I love it, such well written instructions and pattern pieces that are neat and tidy.  Now i need more, more patterns, more styles… more time to make them.  I made these two earlier in the week, I’m hoping to post them on Etsy sometime soon, but my camera is a &*#$@  when it comes to taking good pictures, so I’m going to wait a bit, but if anyone out in blogland wants to buy them in the mean time, feel free to email me and I’ll post them for you.the both have zippered pockets on the inside of them.

P.S.  I posted some Stampin’ up stamp sets and supplies in my Etsy store…time to de-stash.  Most of the sets are long retired, so this may be your only chance to snag them.   click the Etsy banner on the right to be directed…

40 hours later…almost done

aliceinwonderland

just a few more finishing touches needed. I think i’m going to trace the white outer edges with black a bit…i find it annoying that i can’t see the picture well enough. Now that it’s done, i have no idea what to do with it. I’m torn between mounting it on canvas, or framing it…any ideas?  I love being able to stitch while watching T.V.  I’m almost through the second season of Criminal Minds… awesomeness.

up next… de-stashing some stamping stuff left over from that craft obsession… look for it on an Etsy near you… or message me if you might be looking for some stampin up supplies.

Back to Dr. Reid… mmmmmmm

Read the directions and directly you will be directed in the right direction.

Just dropping in to post what I’ve been working  on this week.   We watched Alice in Wonderland the other day, it’s one of my very favorite movies.  So i decided that i would like to use it. I printed out a coloring page and transferred it to a hand embroidery pattern, that was a first for me.  Turns out it’s a pretty huge task with all the little details and such.  here’s where i am progress wise….. I still have to finish the white Rabbit, and Alice and some little details (they’re off to the left of the picture… this alone took me over 20 hours…) yikes! i guess I’m petty slow, although this is my second big-ish hand embroidery.

here’s the one practice piece i did before attempting this one…

Hand Embroidery pattern goodness

So, as much as i love to sew and quilt, lately I’ve been drawn to the look and work that goes into hand embroidery. I’ve been dabbling in it a bit, i bought Doodle Stitching by Aimee Ray and Sublime Stitching: hundreds of hip embroidery patterns and how-to (you can get them in my amazon store).  Both of these books are awesome for beginners, I had no idea how many different stitches there are to work with.  I’ve only tried a few of the patterns, but they are super cute and relaxing to make.  I love that i can carry my hand embroidery supplies around with me for when i feel like stitching.

Check out these awesome hand embroidery patterns for sale on Etsy:
