Home Deco fabric…you complete me!

It was a typical night of fabric window shopping on Etsy…  until I saw it!  www.sweetdreamsandco.etsy.com

First let me just say, that as a Canadian, finding a good deal on fabrics with the exchange rate as crazy as it is poses a huge problem for me.  So needless to say I can rarely afford to purchase good Home Dec fabrics.  That being said, sweetdreamsandco has, right now!, as in NOW!  Amy Butler “Nigella” collection at $7.00/yd!!!  and… wait for it…wait for it… Valori Wells “Sole” home deco on clearance!!! $5.50/yd. Yep you read that right. She also has lots of awesome other stuff.

Now, if my husband had not given me the  speech on spending too much money on fabric…blah blah blah ( I think i stopped listening after about a minute) I probably would have cleaned out her store myself, but alas it’s too windy here in Nova Scotia to live in a house made of fabric…so i had to order only a little, although i’m pretty sure if he had seen me looking at ordering golf clubs that conversation would have gone much differently LOL

Now I don’t know how long this promo is going on, but you had all better get your selves down there to get this great deal.  On second thought….maybe you guys should stay away, so that I can get it all for myself.

MidMod Contest from Amy Butler

To celebrate the one year anniversary of the midwest modern fabric line from Amy Bulter, and the release of the her EQ software CD (which is awesome…and not only because i’m in the inpiration section )  she’s having a studio contest!   The only rule is that you make something out of the midwest modern fabric line. Etsy find… Stellamerle

It’s been so long since last i posted…life gets in the way sometimes i guess. Actually trying to sew up some handbags to sell over the summer has consumed my every free moment.  Here’s an etsy find i came accross some time ago. I can not tell you how hard it was to pick 4 photos to show.  Amazing fashions! Amazing. Go see this store, there is much more to see than just these beauties. FYI that yo-yo dress makes me drool.  I have a few more etsy finds that i can’t wait to post, so i’m going to promise myself that i’m going to post more often…. and keep an eye out for my tutorial links section, i’ve been coming accross a crazy amount of awesome tutorials.

Etsy find…HK Collection

good god, I’ve been out of the loop.  Now I’m back on track, after countless bag orders and life’s little detours.  First up, the Etsy find from HK Collection. I meant to post this forever ago, I’m so envious of her talent.  Please Please go check out her stuff, it’s gorgeous. I can only hope that someday I can make clothing this beautiful.

Patty Young – Mezzanine…i’m in love!

So i haven’t posted in a while, between weddings and work and playing with my new Babylock Sophia I’ve been swamped.  Ahhh my new machine is a DREAM! I’m so in love with it. I’ll be trying to catch up on some Etsy finds posts today and tomorrow. All that aside, I’ve just noticed that Patty Young’s new line of fabric called “Mezzanine” is on her site! Soooo beautiful I can’t wait to get my hands on some of it.  I’ve been tossing the millions of ideas for summer dresses around, and scored two new Butterick patterns yesterday, now if i can get all of these bag orders out of the way it’ll be on to the dress making. Here’s a preview of the new Patty young line:

The big 3-0 !!

So today is my birthday, the big 30! yay! it’s so much easier to say than 29.  my birthday present was the absolute best this year!!!  The Babylock Sophia A-line series!  I’m sooooo excited to play with this machine!! if anyone’s got any pointers please let me know! AND gift number 2…. a new baby girl Guinea pig!!! We still haven’t picked out a name…

well, I’ve been out of the blogging loop for a little bit. It’s nice to be back at it after a delightful little vacation on Easter weekend.  Coincidentally I’ve spent my weekend among family and friends…and dogs. My first pattern completed!!

I’ve been so busy sewing handbags, i have barely had the time to update my blog…but i promise i will. I just finished drafting my first pattern! I’m so excited, here’s the picture… I’ve called it the Roslyn bag… cuz Ros is my favorite little lady.

I know, my camera sucks… i’m hoping to get a new one soon. But first i’ll be getting my new sewing/embroidery machine    I’ve decided on the babylock Sophia series, if anyone has any useful feedback on that machine i’d sure appreciated it!   I’ll be writing a tutorial with pdf pattern for this bag as soon as i can, i’ll have it free for download on this blog…so subscribe to my RSS feed to stay updated!  I have a few more patterns on the go as well. Alas, back to work… I’ll be posting another Etsy find later today so stay tuned !
