A Big giant THANK YOU to WildOliveKids !  There is absolutely no way I’m getting any housework done this weekend. No chance.  I’ll be picking through scraps for my bottled rainbow blocks… and there were some really big pieces that are inspiring other projects too!

Have a great weekend !!!

A picture is worth a thousand feelings

Sometimes I think that maybe it’s just me, but pictures define my feelings better than words. Almost always.  More specifically, colors I guess. I can define any feeling I have using a picture.  Here is what I WANT to be feeling like :

Unfortunately what I really feel like is this:

Fingers crossed that the sun comes out soon, before we all go crazy.

Seeing Rainbows

It’s been raining here in Nova Scotia for days… really it feels like weeks. Everyone is cranky, soggy and longing for some sunshine. Oh please mister sun… please come see us!  Since the sun won’t come to me, I’ve brought the rainbows to my sewing room.

Here’s my stash so far:

I’m expecting two large scrap boxes in the mail … eeeeeeepp… I’m so excited! I’m almost finished making the block frames (only 2 or 3 more to go) but I’ve been through my little box of scraps a million times, there just aren’t enough. When those boxes get here I can’t wait to dig in! I know, I know, I’m so far behind everyone else I’m sure. I have been working on a few other things though, i can’t seem to commit to only one project at a time. Here’s a sneak peak of my weekend project.

A little Castle Peeps always cheers me up.

Off to bed for now, hopefully tomorrow Mr. sun will come out.

Quick post – I have so much to sew…

I feel like my life has been so busy that there has been no time to sew, really that’s not true…I’ve just been so tired after working all day and coming home to clean and be a mom. This mothers day was devoted to sewing (between “mom, I need your help” and “mom, I’m bored”)… and a fun trip to the cupcake store. Here is the most exciting of weekend news though:

GIANT BUTTONS ARE BACK

Bugs and Fishes by Lupin is now stocked with these giant awesome buttons.

I’M SO IN LOVE

onward to more cutting and piecing and sewing Oh My!

Happy Mothers Day !

Happy Mother’s day to all of the biological and non-biological moms out there today !

You don’t really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around – and why his parents will always wave back.  ~William D. Tammeus

THE HAPPIEST MOTHERS DAY TO MY MOM!

Is it May already??

Comic Book

Soon it will be summer vacation (for the kids at least), I really should get started on that picnic blanket I have been meaning to make.
I’ve been busy at my machine this week, I always seem to take orders all at once then i get stressed about it! I need a system. So far, my system is to have a cup of tea when I’m stressed…so far so good. Today’s post is a quick one, I’m up to my ears in work and life.. are you sure I can’t just stay home and work on my bottled rainbows quilt?   I had the best stroke of luck the other day… I found THIS. It’s a huge amount of scraps from WildOliveKids ! THANK YOU SO MUCH SHERIE !  I’ve been waiting by the mailbox (even though I’m sure it will take a few extra days since I’m in Canada.)  When it gets here i may lock myself in my sewing room for a month.  I can’t wait to make some patchwork/scrap pillow covers.  I made these recently:

That last one is my favorite.  I’m slowly gathering a stock pile of completed small projects in hopes of doing a craft fair this year. If anyone has any tips I’d be super excited to hear them :)

Have a great day everyone!

When the sun shines…

Finally a beautiful, sunny, no-rain day! To bad that I’m stuck on the couch with a hot rice bag on my belly…silly mother nature.   Well, I should probably make the best of it I guess…time to organize my projects and figure out what to start working on. I’m one of those people who start half a dozen projects and slowly works on them randomly.  I did get all of my neutral blocks ready to do the Bottled Rainbows quilt… I’m sooooo excited.

Tonight’s menu is two Midol and some very serious scrap searching for my rainbow blocks. I don’t think I’ll have quite enough of the purples and oranges… so i may have to go scrap bag shopping :)

Oh and I’m not sure if anyone saw my post last week about ordering the fat quarter pack of Tea Garden fabrics, but the finally arrived… and it REALLY was a fat quarter pack!!!!!  It’ s the best fabric deal I’ve caught in a long time !

Have a great weekend everyone!

Here are some of the projects I recently finished for a friends set of twins using Luella Doss fabric :

32 feels just like 31…but with more chocolate

I’m back, feeling refreshed after an amazing 4 days back home with my family and old friends.  I had the chance to celebrate my birthday this year exactly the way i wanted to; with friends, chicken wings and a cold beer. That may not sound like much excitement for most people, but it is exactly what i needed.  I took some photo’s of my favorite part of the weekend :)

Lady Girl

For those of you who don’t know me or my family, getting my son outside and away from the video games is no easy task. I suppose city living will do that.   Do you see that dog? her name is Lady…I can’t remember if she’s Lady the 3rd or 4th… but in our family there is ALWAYS a black lab named Lady. I think it would throw off our family balance if there wasn’t.  That dog is the most wonderful pet there ever was, gentle and loving with the Kids, not to mention cuddly !  My son LOVES this dog. LOVES. She loves him right back, sometimes you can’t tell which one of them is following the other around to play.  This right here is my favorite birthday/Easter weekend moment.

Just wanted to share it with you guys (yes I realize there may only be half a dozen people who read this, but I appreciate every one of you )

What was your favorite Easter memory this year?
