Hand Embroidery pattern goodness

November 3rd, 2009

So, as much as i love to sew and quilt, lately I’ve been drawn to the look and work that goes into hand embroidery. I’ve been dabbling in it a bit, i bought Doodle Stitching by Aimee Ray and Sublime Stitching: hundreds of hip embroidery patterns and how-to (you can get them in my amazon store).  Both of these books are awesome for beginners, I had no idea how many different stitches there are to work with.  I’ve only tried a few of the patterns, but they are super cute and relaxing to make.  I love that i can carry my hand embroidery supplies around with me for when i feel like stitching.

Check out these awesome hand embroidery patterns for sale on Etsy:

Etsy find – Keykalou PDF sewing patterns

September 28th, 2009

I’ve been sewing bags for quite a while now…making patterns, sometimes just winging it without a pattern.  But, these pdf patterns from keykalou are wonderful, absolutely fantastic!  I can’t wait to buy some and make them, and since her patterns are purchased with the opportunity to sew them to sell on a small scale (craft shows, etsy…) giving credit to Keykalou of course, maybe i’ll make a few extra dollars for Christmas presents !

Go check out these awesome patterns!

Home Deco fabric…you complete me!

August 17th, 2009

sweetdreamsandco

It was a typical night of fabric window shopping on Etsy…  until I saw it!  www.sweetdreamsandco.etsy.com

First let me just say, that as a Canadian, finding a good deal on fabrics with the exchange rate as crazy as it is poses a huge problem for me.  So needless to say I can rarely afford to purchase good Home Dec fabrics.  That being said, sweetdreamsandco has, right now!, as in NOW!  Amy Butler “Nigella” collection at $7.00/yd!!!  and… wait for it…wait for it… Valori Wells “Sole” home deco on clearance!!! $5.50/yd. Yep you read that right. She also has lots of awesome other stuff.

Now, if my husband had not given me the  speech on spending too much money on fabric…blah blah blah ( I think i stopped listening after about a minute) I probably would have cleaned out her store myself, but alas it’s too windy here in Nova Scotia to live in a house made of fabric…so i had to order only a little, although i’m pretty sure if he had seen me looking at ordering golf clubs that conversation would have gone much differently LOL

Now I don’t know how long this promo is going on, but you had all better get your selves down there to get this great deal.  On second thought….maybe you guys should stay away, so that I can get it all for myself.

June 11th, 2009

It’s been so long since last i posted…life gets in the way sometimes i guess. Actually trying to sew up some handbags to sell over the summer has consumed my every free moment.  Here’s an etsy find i came accross some time ago. I can not tell you how hard it was to pick 4 photos to show.  Amazing fashions! Amazing. Go see this store, there is much more to see than just these beauties. FYI that yo-yo dress makes me drool.  I have a few more etsy finds that i can’t wait to post, so i’m going to promise myself that i’m going to post more often…. and keep an eye out for my tutorial links section, i’ve been coming accross a crazy amount of awesome tutorials.

Etsy find of today

April 15th, 2009

well, I’ve been out of the blogging loop for a little bit. It’s nice to be back at it after a delightful little vacation on Easter weekend.  Coincidentally I’ve spent my weekend among family and friends…and dogs. So many dogs.  Today’s etsy find is a cute little shop selling Dog collars. So, if your dog needs a bit of fashion help… check out Cultured Canine on etsy.

I guess this feature is an etsy find…although i found it months ago :)   This is a fabric shop owned by Karen Gray @ Karen Gray Design. This is my first (and most of the time only) stop for fabric. Since i have an unhealthy obsession with fabric shopping, i’ve spent countless hours in her shop trying to pick out just the right fabrics for my projects.  I can not say enough good things about her,  she’s a delight to buy from ! Such great customer service and because i live in Canada, it can sometimes be a pain to shop for fabric in the U.S.  Not here my friends! I’ve had quick friendly service every step of the way !  So today,  I’d like to direct your attention to her etsy store :   Fabricpalooza !  she carries designers such as Amy Butler, Joel Dewberry, Anna Maria Horner and Heather Ross just to name a few.  Also, please check out her blog Here! and her website…. Here! There’s a lot to see so get a cup of tea, and relax.     FYI if you happen to live in her area, she has a brick and mortar shop opening this week !!!  I’m a little jealous.   Enjoy !
