Too good to be true? we will soon find out…

I came across this site today while i was frantically searching for Christmas gifts online… ( I hate shopping malls and I can’t buy things that aren’t on sale)

It seems legit…I ordered something and I hope it works. I found it on a really reputable site.

It’s called NOMORERACK Follow this link! The deals seem surreal but I couldn’t help myself.  I was trying to make as much handmade items or small business purchased items as i could this year, but I have techies in my family so some exceptions have to be made. My goal is to keep Christmas gift spending under $300 total – for everything. So far so good, I’m still within budget.

Block number 4 – Canary Yellow

I’m still trudging along with this Bottled Rainbows Quilt. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to sew anything in my life :) This will be the first Quilt that I have kept for my family; and both my boys are really excited about it!

Here’s block number 4 : Canary Yellow…

I have a few other blocks made, but no pictures yet. I’m on block number 7 right now, and I ran out of White thread… to the fabric store today it is !!!

Summer is finally here!

A few weeks ago we had a beautiful Saturday morning, the weekend every year when people are urged to put things on their sidewalks for free.  Since I (and my offspring) can’t resist a yard sale, we set off in hopes of finding some neat treasures. We did find some cute stuff, although not many people in our side of town participated. Now, my son is all about free stuff. It really bugs him that people would throw perfectly good things away, therefore he MUST rescue them:

He fought me tooth and nail to take this home because sometimes he just needs a bigger suitcase:

As for me, I was not so lucky as to find something super useful. I did however find some nice old books (still in great shape):

look at this one….it’s my very favorite…

all of the pictures are needlework…so creative.

I hope that next year more people participate…or we’ll just go to a better part of town :P

Back to work on the bottled rainbows… I have 4 more blocks to post pictures of later…

Eggplant…love it or hate it?

I personally love the color Eggplant. I decided last night to do the eggplant block since I had what I thought was “very few” scraps to work with. Hmmm turns out I love that color, and I do have quite a few things that work.

I’m feeling pretty good here…I have 3 completed blocks, and one partially completed Pomegranate block.

Wish me luck!

Bottled Rainbow block two :)

I finished rainbow block number 2 Peacock blue…they seem to be less intimidating as I keep working on it.

I really need to catch up now that everyone else has finished theirs :)

I think my next one will be Plum… it seems to be the most difficult. I’m jumping in.

First Block done…

I had so much fun making the frames for the bottled rainbow blocks, but when it comes to the scrap piecing I’m a nervous wreck.  I don’t exactly have a lot of scraps, so I’m so afraid to mess it up. Here’s my first block…Bubblegum pink. I still don’t feel 100% about this…but I always beat myself up when I’m making something, this time I’m just going to let it go.

I am so excited to see the progress on this quilt.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wedding bells always make me smile…

I’m slowly recovering from a solo trip to a friends wedding. Spending some amazing quality time with old friends always makes me happy. It was a beautiful wedding! The groom even sang a song for the bride. I decided to hand make the gift I gave them, here’s what it looked like:

obviously when I gave it to them it was properly stretched and framed In a handpainted brown frame…although I didn’t think to take a picture of it then…

I was inspired by Etsy seller  Cosyblue :

I wanted to get this pillow, but I didn’t have enough time before the wedding. I am, of course, a last minute person.

I love weddings.

It’s Here! It’s Here!!!

Finally it’s here!  I realize that this doesn’t convey my sarcasm and hatred…. but you know what I mean.

Nope. I am no longer dreading the season… the season has arrived, and is making me miserable.

Summer is coming :)

Another wonderful long weekend is over, it was so nice to be back home with my family again. It would have been nice if I could have left the head cold and allergy pain when I left.  All I want to do is curl up on the couch watching movies and drinking tea; instead I have to go to work. I can’t seem to get out of my own way today. I was so looking forward to working on my bottled rainbows blocks today, but then I realized that i need to buy the quilt batting to get started. I’m thinking I might go through more scraps tonight…or just settle for my tea, since I find it very difficult to breath.
