First up: My Friend Brittanie and her break into fashion. love love love my Brittanie. Her scarves are awesome! versatile and beautiful all in the same package. Show her some love and join her facebook group HERE. She’s currently working on the Button Up! Runway show. You can follow that link to that facebook page too. Someday soon we are going Brit and I are going to collaborate and take over the world of East Coast Fashion… muahhahaa. Check out some pics of her stuff… she’s a doll.
I can’t wait to go to that fashion show! Much deserved respect for the East Coast.

Before i start rambling about the really awesome “lots of pockets” pattern by Keykalou, I’d like to take a minute to ask if anyone else is super stressed about what to make/buy people for Christmas? I personally am making just about everything (i doubt my brother would want a handbag or pillow covers so i’ll buy him something nice). It seems like the big day is creeping up on me here, and I’m feeling a little stressed. That being said… this Keykalou “lots of pockets” bag pattern is keeping me going. I love it, such well written instructions and pattern pieces that are neat and tidy. Now i need more, more patterns, more styles… more time to make them. I made these two earlier in the week, I’m hoping to post them on Etsy sometime soon, but my camera is a &*#$@ when it comes to taking good pictures, so I’m going to wait a bit, but if anyone out in blogland wants to buy them in the mean time, feel free to email me and I’ll post them for you.the both have zippered pockets on the inside of them.

P.S. I posted some Stampin’ up stamp sets and supplies in my Etsy store…time to de-stash. Most of the sets are long retired, so this may be your only chance to snag them. click the Etsy banner on the right to be directed…

just a few more finishing touches needed. I think i’m going to trace the white outer edges with black a bit…i find it annoying that i can’t see the picture well enough. Now that it’s done, i have no idea what to do with it. I’m torn between mounting it on canvas, or framing it…any ideas? I love being able to stitch while watching T.V. I’m almost through the second season of Criminal Minds… awesomeness.
up next… de-stashing some stamping stuff left over from that craft obsession… look for it on an Etsy near you… or message me if you might be looking for some stampin up supplies.
Back to Dr. Reid… mmmmmmm

Just dropping in to post what I’ve been working on this week. We watched Alice in Wonderland the other day, it’s one of my very favorite movies. So i decided that i would like to use it. I printed out a coloring page and transferred it to a hand embroidery pattern, that was a first for me. Turns out it’s a pretty huge task with all the little details and such. here’s where i am progress wise….. I still have to finish the white Rabbit, and Alice and some little details (they’re off to the left of the picture… this alone took me over 20 hours…) yikes! i guess I’m petty slow, although this is my second big-ish hand embroidery.

here’s the one practice piece i did before attempting this one…

well, were off on an overnight trip tomorrow, lots of time to work in the car i suppose… then it’s back to Christmas gift making. I don’t know about you guys, but I think I have crafters ADD. Wayyyyyy too many things started, not enough finished. happy weekend Everyone!

So, as much as i love to sew and quilt, lately I’ve been drawn to the look and work that goes into hand embroidery. I’ve been dabbling in it a bit, i bought Doodle Stitching by Aimee Ray and Sublime Stitching: hundreds of hip embroidery patterns and how-to (you can get them in my amazon store). Both of these books are awesome for beginners, I had no idea how many different stitches there are to work with. I’ve only tried a few of the patterns, but they are super cute and relaxing to make. I love that i can carry my hand embroidery supplies around with me for when i feel like stitching.

I’ve been sewing bags for quite a while now…making patterns, sometimes just winging it without a pattern. But, these pdf patterns from keykalou are wonderful, absolutely fantastic! I can’t wait to buy some and make them, and since her patterns are purchased with the opportunity to sew them to sell on a small scale (craft shows, etsy…) giving credit to Keykalou of course, maybe i’ll make a few extra dollars for Christmas presents !
Go check out these awesome patterns!

So here we were in Nova Scotia taking in the patio furniture, stocking up on batteries, water and canned goods in preparation for Hurricane Bill. We had a little wind and a little rain, nothing compared to the month of July here. We waited patiently for it to get worse…then the sun came out. Bye bye Bill, thanks for not kicking out butts, we needed the breeze and rain. Not much else to blog about today, I tried my best to do some sewing but gawd it’s so hot here…standing next to a hot iron and under a bright light felt more like torture than pleasure, there’s always next weekend i suppose…
Here are a few tutorials i can’t wait to sink my teeth into:

Say Hi to Bill…he was just passing through…

It was a typical night of fabric window shopping on Etsy… until I saw it! www.sweetdreamsandco.etsy.com
First let me just say, that as a Canadian, finding a good deal on fabrics with the exchange rate as crazy as it is poses a huge problem for me. So needless to say I can rarely afford to purchase good Home Dec fabrics. That being said, sweetdreamsandco has, right now!, as in NOW! Amy Butler “Nigella” collection at $7.00/yd!!! and… wait for it…wait for it… Valori Wells “Sole” home deco on clearance!!! $5.50/yd. Yep you read that right. She also has lots of awesome other stuff.
Now, if my husband had not given me the speech on spending too much money on fabric…blah blah blah ( I think i stopped listening after about a minute) I probably would have cleaned out her store myself, but alas it’s too windy here in Nova Scotia to live in a house made of fabric…so i had to order only a little, although i’m pretty sure if he had seen me looking at ordering golf clubs that conversation would have gone much differently LOL
Now I don’t know how long this promo is going on, but you had all better get your selves down there to get this great deal. On second thought….maybe you guys should stay away, so that I can get it all for myself.

To celebrate the one year anniversary of the midwest modern fabric line from Amy Bulter, and the release of the her EQ software CD (which is awesome…and not only because i’m in the inpiration section
) she’s having a studio contest! The only rule is that you make something out of the midwest modern fabric line. That’s it! the only criteria. I’m so entering this contest…i know i have some of that line in my fabric pile somewhere. click on the picture to link to the flyer.
