Full Circle Presents Dubalicious Wednesdays – SPECIAL ST PADDYS DAY JAM
the return of:
Construct
High on Beats | Bassdrive Wednesdays | Montreal
At the dawn of the 21st century a new breed of DJ has emerged on the circuit. Media-savvy, musically diverse, technically gifted and with an eclectic sense of rhythms and grooves, Construct is a shining example of the power of the digital age. Construct’s palate enjoys all types of breaks from stomping 70 BPM Dubstep to aggressive DNB sets, treading even to 200 BPM Breakcore. Even his B-more inspired Electro sets have a funky syncopation to his cuts and mixing that both hypnotizes and energizes dance floors.
A bricklayer in the Canadian Bass Music scene, he is the founder of the popular J’aime Le Dubstep mix series, the BreakBeat Elite crew and was responsible for the very popular CKDU.ca show Broken Science Radio. His resume of artists that he’s shared a stage with reads like a who’s who of North American Dubstep music including Starkey, ill.Gates, Luke Envoy, Dj Lord, 6Blocc, 0=0, RSD, DZ, Mark Instinct, Sixtoo, Redeyz, XI, Bombaman, Sase One and Freedom Danish. With JLD drawing in international recognition and tour dates popping up Construct is a definitive source of cutting edge Bass Music that pleases the booty shakers and the serious heads every time he blows up a party.
Construct currently releases a weekly J’aime Le Dubstep podcast on iTunes & Wickedbad.net. Teamed up with Vilify, he plays on JUNGLETRAIN.net every Monday 7-9pm EST, SUB.FM every Friday 9-11pm EST and their weekly event Bass Drive Wednesdays at Koï Bar, a staple in the Montreal Dubstep scene.

12/11/09 – LIQUID ASSETS 3 – Halifax, Nova Scotia
BigCityNights Production House is proud to present the third installment of “Liquid Assets”, Halifax’s first Liquid Drum and Bass monthly.

In December BCN showcases two of Halifax’s DNB Masters:
Mark Harmsworth and Chris Morrison
A Brief History of Liquid DNB:
In 2000, Fabio began championing a new form of drum and bass he called “Liquid funk”, with a compilation release of the same name on his Creative Source label. This was characterized by influences from disco and house music, and widespread use of vocals. Although slow to catch on at first, the style grew massively in popularity around 2003-2004, and by 2005 it was established as one of the biggest-selling subgenres in drum and bass, with labels like Good Looking Records, Hospital Records, Liquid V, Shogun Limited, Fokuz Recordings, State of the Art Recordings and artists like Calibre, High Contrast, Logistics, London Elektricity, Nu:Tone and Solid State among its main proponents.]
Liquid funk is very similar to intelligent drum and bass, but has subtle differences. Liquid funk has stronger influences from soca, latin, disco, jazz, and funk music, while IDB creates a calmer yet more synthetic sound, using smooth synth lines and samples in place of the organic elements achieved by use of real instruments.
On the 1st October 2007 High Contrast brought Liquid Funk back to the mainstream with his album, Tough Guys Don’t Dance, releasing tracks such as If We Ever (Featuring Diane Charlemagne) which made BBC Radio 1′s Dance singles chart, Kiss Kiss bang Bang and Tread Softly. This ended up “crossing over” and becoming one of the most listened to Drum and Bass album’s of 2007. The success of Liquid Funk never left the mainstream, and was followed by Mistabishi’s No Matter What being played on daytime radio, Chase and Status’s More Than Alot album charting and the Brookes Brother’s single Tear You Down hitting Dance charts.

11/21/09 – RENDEZ-VU – Halifax, Nova Scotia

For us at Big City Nights Rendez-Vu is not just a title, it is a concept about how we want to treat not only our customers but our DJ’s as well. We want to use this weekly event to bring people, music, and fun together. We want everyone to feel a sense of ownership with the night, and enjoy the people, environment, dance-floor, and music as much as we do.
Rendez-Vu has been going now since May, and every week it seems as though we pick up a little more steam. The week of November 21st we are proud to present two DJs with two different styles of music, who are both going to make you lose your mind and dance until you drop.

HaliField Presents: MARK INSTINCT – Friday November 20th @ Club 1668
MARK INSTINCT (CGY)
Rottun Records, TrillBass Records, Beatmorph Records, Aufect Records
With releases on Excision’s monstrous label Rottun Records, dancefloor rippers released on Aufect such has Badman Sound, Love Me Nots and Heatwav and an upcoming album on TrillBass Records, Mark is definitely gaining grounds as one of the biggest dubstep producers in Canada and is gaining momentum worldwide.
Don’t miss the chance to see him live!
Until we have all the deets sorted out, check out this exclusive mix which Mark did for Hush House, featuring alot of his own productions:
Here is a little write up about the mix:
The first installement of our brand new series sees 23 year old Mark Instinct from Canada step to the task of mashing together his favourite beats along with giving us a sneak preview to the forthcoming filth from his lab.
Mark has been DJing for the past 7 years, and producing since an even earlier age. He started out making house under a different alias, had a couple of tunes signed to Total Recordings in Italy and Fluent Recordings in Canada but moved into Dubstep about a year ago and fell in love.
The release “Sketchy Maxx” was in Digital Tunes and Trackitdown top 10 for 3 weeks running. It has since been remixed by the likes of Trillbass, Emu, Pawn, Richie August, RSK, Kellydean + some! Having been signed to Aufect, Rottun and Betamorph Recordings for a load of forthcoming material, as well as an EP on Shift and an album on Trillbass, I’m sure you’ll be seeing this name all over the place soon. To top this, Enough of the chat, time to get your bassbins pumpin.

These 2 BASShead dubwize junglist soldiers are ready to take on the world with their breakbeat arsenal of champion sound ragga riddims, resonant head rattling dubs & dirty, crunchy breaks; you might even hear the odd glitch hop or speed garage choon if ya lucky! This will not be an act to miss as the 1st born sons of The HaliField Movement are guaranteed to make you move & groove to dem beats so smoove...." Buck Banger ---------------------- Tim Barrett never met a breakbeat he didn't like. Beginning his dj journey in 2002 he was a bonified hip hopper through & through but still had an enormous love for electronic music, so he found himself trying to blend hip hop acapellas over techno records. In early 2005 he bought a few drum n bass vinyls @ the local record shop & instantly became an addict for jungle music. After cutting his teeth on any dnb that came his way he started developing a style of his own when he discovered the sounds of Ragga Jungle. The earthy riddims & beats fused with dem reggae vocals he knew where his head would always be...deep in the heart of the Jungle. Now, with the emergence of dubstep onto the world stage he feels as though his musical influences have come full circle into a particular style that can be just as tough as dem ragga sounds but with a hip hop swagger & a drum n bass crunch. 7 years & a hundred or so shows later, Buck Banger is @ the height of his abilities as well as who he is as a dj & as a hypeman. Ready, willing & able to rock crowds on the mic or the turntables, he's sure to impress as he will always give you more Bang fo ya Buck! Lyra ---------------------- Lyra, aka Amanda Stevens, has been a music lover of the electronic scene for over 9 years. It only took her about 3 years before she had the strong urge to put her own creativity and choice selection of music to good use. Being involved with music her whole life, through singing, playing various instruments, and falling in love with all genres, it only made sense she would start djing. In 2008 the dj/hairstylist started playing out and sharing her musical styles with Halifax and the maritimes. Dirty chuggin' basslines, eerie melodic shuffles, bizarre but entertaining vocals and tough funky beats make up the tech house, electro and techno sounds she brings to the speakers. She mixes it all together to create a tossed salad of eclectic beats, and each song played will either satisfy your ears, make you laugh, or dance as hard as you can. Lyra has played among some of the best djs in the maritimes and opening for DJ Rap in 2009, she only strives to push herself harder to prove her skills and make you dance. With mixes underway, and future shows coming up, Lyra definitely has what it takes to get your dusted off dancing shoes on and start a party on the dancefloor. Peter Farmer ----------------------- Peter was born in Cardiff, Wales, and raised in England, Scotland, America, and Canada. His commitment to painting began in earnest over a decade ago; since that time he has also studied anatomy and physiology, earned a degree in Graphic Design, established a Motion Graphic Design Studio, and traveled extensively throughout Canada and Europe. This multi-disciplinary background and international experience influences his art heavily, reflected in his disciplined devotion to technique, his abundant array of subject matter, and - above all - his passion for colour. The cool grays of the British Isles, the rich blues of Newfoundland, the intense greens of Italy - Peter's work calls upon a plentiful palette of living colours and cultures. Peter has recently devoted his art work to music. For two years he has been performing with musical artist on stage. He developed the Art Cabaret which promotes live painting in a musical performance. Peter has performed with canadian musical giants such as Kid Koala, Skratch Bastid, arron Collier, Ruby Jean and the thoughtful bees, Rich Aucoin, Ghettosocks and many more... As an entrepreneur ( co- owner of the Paragon Theatre, Halifax) Peter has set a tradition in the musical world. Each major musical act that performs at the Paragon is painted and presented to the artist the night of their performance. The painting is then signed by the performer either on stage or back stage. The Paragon then keeps the artwork and displays the piece in a growing collection as a celebration of fine art and music. |

Now, let us introduce to you our smashing line-up Freedom Danish (Pop N Lock Records, Root Sellers, ESP) - 13 years on the decks. A penchant for breathing fire and breaking records on stage. A history of rocking every city in the country and some of the best in the U.S.A. with his own brand of breakcore and hardcore in the heyday of the ‘90s rave scene. Dubs that will make you want to run back home into the studio and cry like a baby. Remix and production credits that include working with ill.Gates, DZ and Myagi. His tour band (the Root Sellers) played the 2008 Beijing Olympics and was one of the first DJ headliners confirmed for the fantastic 10th anniversary of Evolve Festival this July. Who have you got? Sounds like Freedom Danish. Recently signed to breaks kingpin Myagi’s Pop n Lock Records, Da Don Danish is geared up to embark on the first Pop N Lock tour through July and is making his rounds through the East Coast to prepare you for what’s to come. It’s been two years since Freedom Danish has hit Saint John with Myagi @ an all night party called Bustin’, so show the boy some love.
